Bailey’s First Birthday

July 29, 2007

Kara and I celebrated Bailey’s birthday with him last night by making some cupcakes and wearing elmo hats.   Ok, we’re totally lame…..   but I think he had a good time nonetheless….

Suzuki SV650 Suspension Upgrades

July 24, 2007

Those of you that know me, know that I’ve like to work on bicycles and I’m regularly repairing, upgrading, modifying, etc.  So about a month ago, I bid on a front end off of a Suzuki GSXR to upgrade my ’06 SV650 with.    I’ve done a few little upgrades, changes, etc to the moto since I got it in late ’05, but this is definitely the biggest project that I’ve taken on.    Hopefully the box that the forks were shipped in wasn’t forecasting the outcome of this project.    I figure I still have about 2 weeks of work before the bike’s road worthy again.    Stay tuned….

Seth and Kristin’s Wedding

July 24, 2007

This past Saturday, our friends Seth and Kristin got married.  They had a very nice ceremony (which include their 4 legged family members) in their backyard, followed by a catered picnic in a nearby park.   It was a great time!!  Congrats you two.    And, I had no idea you could get a picture of yourself on a bottle of Jones soda! (yes, that’s them on there)

The Santa Fe Opera!!

July 24, 2007

To get a little more cultured, Kara and I went to the Santa Fe Opera last Friday night.  It’s been on our to-do-list for a long time since it’s a well known Opera venue and the tickets sell out each year.   We didn’t get any good pictures since you’re not supposed to have cameras inside, so here’s one of the only shots we got of the sky.

Red River Camping to Escape the Heat!!

July 24, 2007

I’m a little behind on some postings that I planned to make, so here goes…. about 2 weekends ago we decided to head north in order to escape the summer heat in ABQ.   It’s been in the low to mid 90’s and the swamp cooler has barely kept up so we loaded up the pathfinder and headed to higher elevation courtesy of Red River, NM.  The weekend was good, as we arrived a night too late for a bear visit to the camp ground (darn!), and we only got hailed on twice- so all in all, not bad.  🙂   Here’s some pictures, mostly of Bailey as this was his first time camping.    Kara also got to play with her Sony Alpha SLR camera in between rain showers.   She got some pretty good pictures from my novice point of view, especially of the sky and waterfalls.  Oh ya, check out our new RV, jeep, and ATVs…. oh wait, those are some rich people’s.   We stayed in the tent (so good thing that bear didn’t come back!).

Cochiti Lake

July 2, 2007

Went mountain biking with Will and Candice near Cochiti lake yesterday.   I had never ridden out there so I was interested in going along with someone who knew the way.  The loop we did was about 16 miles.   The first 9 miles were up hill out a dirt & rocky road, but the next 4-5 miles were all downhill most of which was sweet single track that had about 10 or so stream crossings.   I was amazed at how lush it was in the trees since the majority of the area is desert.   After the downhill (my type of riding), I decided the climb was worth it.   🙂 It was a bit hot too, but a great ride nonetheless.
